Our History

Over 100 years ago in September of 1911, William W. Smith, a jeweler, opened his store in the new storefront of Freeman and Walker in Downtown Dublin, Georgia. Smith’s moved to several locations throughout Downtown Dublin in its early years, taking its permanent home in August of 1930 at 130 West Jackson Street.

About Us

In early 2015, Jackie Ellington announced her retirement and desire to sell Smith’s. At a time when investing in downtown real estate was not highly desirable, current owner, Natalie Curry, had a vision for the future of Downtown Dublin, and jumped at the challenge. Upon purchase of Smith’s, Natalie immediately charted a course for temporarily relocating store operations in order to allow for significant renovation, upgrade and repair of the building and its components. Smith’s opened its doors in the newly renovated original location in August of 2015, exactly 85 years after the first grand opening.

This year, Smith’s is celebrating 112 years of business in Dublin, which displays the rich heritage the business enjoys and one that has spanned six owners.  As the oldest family owned jewelry store in Dublin, Smith’s is now serving its customers from bridal registry and fine jewelry finds to gifts for every occasion. Our Mission to Serve

The secret to Smith's success lies in our team being able to personally connect with the local community where we offer unique southern hospitality that one can rarely find these days. Since acquisition, Natalie and her team have invested time and resources back in the Middle Georgia community. Quarterly, Smith’s donates a portion of proceeds to area non-profits like Children’s Miracle Network, the Salvation Army, providing Christmas gifts to children in need, and donating to local families when a hardship strikes.
Additionally, the Smith's team finds ways to show support and care to those who need it most. At the onset of Covid-19 and county-wide testing, Natalie partnered with the Rotary Club of Dublin to provide gift cards for Dairy Queen Blizzards to front-line health department workers (Dairy Queen sales benefitted Children’s Miracle Network). During a surge of Covid cases at Fairview Park Hospital, Smith’s partnered with a local restaurant (Brian’s Subs) to provide lunch boxes to hospital staff. Again, in September 2021, Smiths partnered with local businesses (Williamson’s Bakery and Dunkin’ Donuts) to provide coffee and donuts to 600+ healthcare workers and staff at Fairview Park Hospital.
